Welcome Note From the Author

Thank you for your visit here. I am so very pleased to have made it over the finish line to get Book 1, “The O-Z: Conception.” It has been a long and winding road, my friends. Let me tell you just a bit about it.

I owned a small factory in Kingfisher, Oklahoma in 1999. One day in my office, I had a very clear vision come to mind of a story that incorporated changeable tattoos that gave pleasure and a process of building things from “bubbles” of the same material as the tattoos. Vibrations in the air might affect the designs.

I jotted it down. My notes sat beside my desk, under the answering machine for some time. In those days, since it was the eve of the turn of the millennium, my mother requested we contribute to a time capsule. Just this year, in going through the things of my mother’s estate, we opened that time capsule, where my contribution included my hope to be on my 3rd book 10 years later. Well, 26 years later (as of this writing), I am so very pleased to share with you the result of that vision—and the first of those books to be published.

I was so very busy at the time trying to keep my factory going that there was no time to write. In fact, I didn’t take the time until I truly felt called to write the book, years later. In 2011, I had a very close brush with death in an RTV accident on a family ranch. The next spring, from February to mid-May, I churned out the original version of “The O-Z: Conception.” I came out of that experience with an impetus to get busy and write the book.

Refining the Vision

Of course, it wasn’t so very well written. The vision might have been fine, but I was a novice at writing novels. I sent it off to family, friends, and a publisher. One friend gave me rave reviews. My sister was kind in her comments. No one else seemed to like it. Finally, from 2020 to 2024 I managed to study up and make some rewrites. 2025 was all about recording the audiobook and moving up that learning curve. So, here we are. If I were to identify with anyone in my book, “Conception,” it would be Mario, who made a bit of art on his first try and decided he wanted to make more. The good news for you, the reader or listener, is that my life and skills are streamlined now to give you Book 2 in record fashion. I plan to post my progress here for you to follow.
